Why we build our own tools
We run a recruitment desk and we write the software that runs it. Doing both is not a distraction. It is how each one stays honest.

It would be tidier to pick a lane. Recruit, or build recruiting software, but not both. We do both on purpose. The desk is the reason the software is any good, and the software is the reason the desk can take on more without getting worse.
The desk keeps the software honest
A feature that looks clever in a demo has to survive a real Tuesday: forty roles, a full inbox, and a candidate who has gone quiet. Because our own recruiters live in the product every day, the ideas that do not earn their place get found out fast. Nothing ships because it was fun to build.
The software keeps the desk fast
The busywork of recruitment is the part that scales badly and burns people out. Scout takes the parts that are the same every time and gets them out of the way, so the recruiter spends their attention on the parts that are not: judgement, timing, and the conversation. That is the only kind of automation worth having. It gives the time back to the work only a person can do.
